Orlando fans need to learn a few things

Over the past months I have done this once or twice with several Boston fans.  This is the first fan I am guessing from Orlando that has left a passionate comment.  As Lost Angeles says, my comments in red.

The lakers are the biggest bunch of winer babies I have ever seen.  Curious what a winer baby is?  Did you mean winner baby?  Or I am guessing you meant to say whiner babies.  The Lakers are winners, and what NBA player does not complain about calls these days, if that makes you a baby then everyone in the NBA falls victim to this stereotype. Derek Fisher is a punk and Kobe is such a crybaby!  Derek Fisher is a class act.  How has he been a punk to Orlando.  With the exception in Houston, Derek has never been suspended and never been thrown out of a game.  There is not a more competent and elegant speaker in the NBA.  Kobe Bryant does argue calls all the time, but he is no cry baby.  There is not a more fierce competitor in the NBA than Kobe Bryant, you know you would take him on your team with no questions asked. Pao Gasol better think again before going after any one of the Orlando players because they would mess him up.  Are we playing basketball or in the octagon? Last I checked Pietrus was the dirty player and went after Gasol.  If someone pushes you in the back as you go up for a dunk, then you deserve to get an ear full.  Piertus has a clean record until that point, I will let it slide.  It must be frustrating not being able to close out games wether it be this series or all the way back to Nick Anderson missed free throws. Gasol is a big ugly lazy player who has no business being cocky.  Gasol is big and ugly, but by no means is he a lazy player.  Isn’t that just putting your own team down even more.  A big lazy guy is going to work and killing it down low.  You only wish Howard had the talent Gasol has to go along with his insane athletic ability.  How is Gasol cocky?  Kobe Bryant is cocky, not Pau Gasol.

Very creative response that had a lot of concrete evidence.  Don’t hate the Lakers because the Orlando Magic can’t close out a game.  Be pissed at all those free throws missed or Nelsons lack of D on Fisher.  Most of the time I am rebutting a Boston fans article.  One thing I miss is some creativity and a knowledge for sports.  Orlando as fans you have a lot to learn.  Boston I miss you.

No time to relax

Great game last night Lakers, truly it was a gem.  Yet I am still nervous.  Did you see how many shots Kobe took?  Granted he absolutely went off in that third quarter to put the nail in the coffin, yet he shot the ball a ton.  Every time this season the Lakers have gotten a huge lead, they blew it.

Yes, they did not blow it last night, but are we going to once again see that team from the Rockets series?  The team, that knows their good and only puts a half effort forward.  Or are we going to see that team from a year ago, that expects Kobe to do everything?  Or will we see that team, that has shown up for a record three games in a row now?  Game two will be a very interesting game (as if all the games will not be interesting) to watch.  If the Lakers come out the same way they did this last game, well sorry Orlando but you are just not deep enough.  If not, then we will have a long series.

Why did Kobe change the game plan from the previous series and shoot so many shots?  It is the same reason Luke Walton took more shots than normal as well.  Courtney Lee, is to small and can not defend Kobe or anyone else on the floor with the exception of our point guards.  There were huge miss matches left and right.

So in the end, yes Kobe can shoot the ball a ton because he has a huge miss match on the floor, then when “Air France” comes in that’s when the bigs go to work.  Last night was a great way to start of that series.  Lets just hope the Lakeshow does not turn into Hyde and dick around.  We all know the Magic will shoot the ball better, and Howard will raise it up another level.  If the Lakers match the intensity, the Magic can not run with them.  You live by the three you die by the three Orlando.  By the way did you see how many threes the Lakers shot?  Only nine, that has to be a record low for the Lakers.

The reason I know we will win is Kobe, the look in his eyes, the intensity on the floor, the post game comments.  The man is on a mission.  The way he looked on the floor last night reminded me of Kobe three years younger.  Unstoppable in every way.

Don’t worry Orlando, we have you covered

Besides being healthy in the NBA finals, the biggest difference from last year opposed to this year for the Lakers, is the variety of teams they played against and styles they saw in the post season.  Each round was a different style and match up that the Lakers had to play against and make adjustments.  These various styles thus have prepared them to match up and know how to play the Orlando Magic.

The Magic starting five for the post season has consisted of Rafer “Skip to my Lou” Alston, Rashard Lewis, Courtney Lee, Hedo Turkoglu, and Dwight Howard.  Lets start by breaking down each player and who they most resemble from the previous teams the Lakers have faced.  Alston is most like his young counter part who took over his spot in Houston, Aaron Brooks.  The guy is a great ball handler and very quick.  Like Brooks this guy will take an open shot so you have to stick home with him.  I feel that Fish will do a decent job on him, but we will be looking to let Farmar get most of the minutes due to his speed on the defensive end.

Courtney Lee is shooting 45% from the field in the playoffs and 30% from down town.  Out of the four shooters on the floor for Orlando he is the one Kobe will be helping off of.  We want to make him beat us.  On the offensive end this is where we will have our best mismatch with him defending Kobe.  I find Lee very similar to Ronnie Brewer of Utah.  Kobe will be free to roam around and help with other defensive assignments simialr to what he did in Utah.

Rashard Lewis, is big and can shoot lights out.  He reminds we of a better shooting Lamar Odom.  Lewis shoots well for a big man and spreads the floor for the magic.   The player most like Lewis in which the Lakers have faced would be a guy similar to Okur.  Even though Lewis is quicker than Okur, chances are Gasol will be able to keep up with him.  If they decided to pick and roll then the Lakers will be fine to switch on the pick with the lengthy Ariza and Gasol.

Hedo, I despised this guy back when he played for the Kings.  Another bigger forward who can score from any where on the floor.  Ariza got a great warm up defending Mello in the previous series.  If Ariza can slow down Mello then for sure he can have an impact on Hedo.  I feel that this is the X factor.  If we can keep Hedo quite we can win this series.

Time to break down Dwight.  Dwight is a man child, a super freak.  The dude takes his vitamins.  Luckily we have two seven footers to clog up the lane and make the paint a living night mare for Howard.  Where he will get his points is late switches or slow to help.  It is essential Bynum stays out of foul trouble.  There are possibly chances that Phil will suite up Mbenga to throw one more man at Howard with size.

The Lakers trip to the finals is four wins away.  Lets see if they can do it.  Game time tomorrow at 6…..

Just a reminder Orlando….(Kobe throws down on Howard)

Nate Robinsons dunk was sick, but this was in a game….More to come on Thursday

Rondo foul, flagrant or playoff foul?

Last night in yet another overtime game between the Bulls and the Celtics there was a controversial play at the end of the game.  As the overtime was winding down and the Bulls down two, they in bounded the ball.  Brad Miller was wide open and drove hard to the rack.  Out of no where comes Rajon Rollerskating Rondo, with no visible play on the ball.  He intentionally fouled Miller to prevent the basket and in doing so decked Miller across the face drawing blood and possibly knocking a tooth out.

What a cheap foul....

What a cheap foul....

In the replay you could clearly see Rondo had no play on the ball.  His intention was to prevent Miller from making the basket.  In doing so, all he could do was rape him across the face.  Personally I think it should have been a flagrant foul.  If you look at the definition of a flagrant foul it follows as.  A flagrant foul-penalty (1) is unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent.

When the league talks about types of flagrant fouls they ask if the player was going for the ball or the body.  Truly in this instance Rondo was going for the body, due to the fact that the ball was no where near his arm or the reach of his arm.  Boston dodged a bullet last night and Miller should have shot 3 free throws and the ball.  One for the flagrant, two for the shot, and then the ball for the flagrant.

Looking back several months ago, Trevor Ariza got ejected out of a game in which Portland was blowing the Lakers out.  Rudy Fernandez had a fast break, and Trevor playing the way Trevor does went all out to block the ball.  The end result as we all know is that Fernandez had to be carted off of the court and Trevor was ejected.  When Trevor made this play, he got part of the ball.  Granted, Miller did not need to be carted off the court, possibly because he is more manly, but Rondo should have gotten that flagrant.

I know that it does not change the fact that Boston won, and frankly I could care less on who wins this series.  Its great to see a new young team on the rise, and the old beat up defending champions struggling to make it out of the first round.  I would just like the NBA to make consistent calls.  If Kobe gets a flagrant foul for following through on a jumper, (last year) and hitting a guy in the face on the way down, then Rondo clearly needs a flagrant for that play last night.

As the video shows he clearly went for Miller’s head.
